Starting as a carpenter in the 1970s, I recognized that delivering simple, yet elegant solutions for customers was critical to success. My creative background gives me the tools to craft con- cise, structured products and services to meet the needs of any audience. After starting the software company Hyper Active, inc. in 1989, I was able to bring the same sensibilities to a small business. Critical to the success of all businesses is the creation of a great culture of innovation and freedom to provide excellent, tailored solutions for our partners and clients.
Roles as a CIO and membership in executive teams of large businesses gives me the experience to build innovation and creativity into traditional structured businesses. My extensive work with both startup and large businesses has provided a balance of skills that make it possible to communicate with people at every level of a business. It also provides me with great management skills for those who work with me.
My passion is to create a great culture and a place where shared learning is expected and appreciated. If a day goes by and I haven’t learned something new, I have failed to accomplish my personal goals for growth. I have spend many years speaking to small and large groups about technology, innovation and creative management of staff.
Much of my career has been spent working as a bridge between teams and executive management of businesses. This has helped hone my skills as a trusted advisor that can communicate the value proposition of good design to business management focused on the bottom line. As design is a creative process, so is technology development. Both require very creative people and management of that creative process.
